Friendship

Updated: Aug 9, 2021

I have two very special friends, one I’ll call Friend1 and the other Friend2.

Friend1, who I’ve known for 40 years, lives in another city in another country so we rarely see each other but when we do, it’s incredibly special. We both cherish and savour those times. Unfortunately for us though, misunderstandings over the years because of hurried posts or emails mean that sometimes she is angry with my abruptness and I’m upset with being misunderstood.

Friend2 doesn’t live close but we are in the same city and often I am too busy to fit her into my life and feel uncomfortable and sorry about this. She understands and is always gracious about my schedule and fits in with me whenever I can find a spot, sometimes only once or twice a year. We have been friends for more than 20 years.

Friend2 forgives me and I’m free to be who I am and our friendship always grows. (Oh and she has over the years also told me the truth in love.)

Friend1 gets angry with me and tells me things about myself I don’t always want to hear, which in fact upsets me although there’s generally an element of truth if I’m willing to listen and grow.

The benefits of these two friends in my life?

I’m forgiven and loved so that I can forgive and love.

A bit like God.

Love and Hugs,

Peta
